Looking back at Meg’s Legacy of Hope for 2024, the one word that comes to mind is GROWTH. We have had incredible growth in our donor base, volunteers, grant applicants, and community connections to support mental health. Growth means success from my perspective because success in this space is measured by impacting more lives of people who truly need us.
On behalf of our family, I can’t say thank you enough to all the people who have helped us grow and make a big difference in the lives of youth regarding mental health and suicide prevention. This January, unbelievably, marks the five-year anniversary of losing Megan, yet we remain surrounded by a great amount of love and support, so we count ourselves blessed in this way.
Connecting with organizations that have similar goals to Meg’s Legacy has been a key personal goal as we grow. This means (1) creating access to mental health for youth, (2) destigmatizing the need to ask for help, and (3) raising awareness around suicide. We have accomplished so much over these initial 18 months, and we are just getting started. In 2024 we awarded $97,000, and in this second grant cycle we anticipate awarding $200,000 in Spring 2025!
Our team remains an all-volunteer organization, and we are committed to keep building on this amazing group of dedicated volunteers to accomplish our mission. We are dedicated to continuing to seek out the best organizations with mental health programs and to support them with grants from Meg’s Legacy. Identifying and replicating best practices for running a successful 501(c)(3) charitable organization is a 2025 goal.
