“Meg’s Gifts of Love” was established as an extension of giving to others in a special way during the holidays.
This outreach mirrors the passion Megan had for helping children experience the joy of receiving presents during the holiday season. Meg’s Gifts of Love helps us carry on her efforts to share individual gifts with the hope that we can bring glimpses of joy to those in our communities needing a little extra love and care.
During the Holidays, more than 450 gifts were collected, wrapped and distributed for babies to young adults, thanks to the generosity of so many of you! There was a Giving Tree set up at Hawthorn Woods Country Club for personally selected toys, plus toys gathered by the Ayvazian family. All these gifts were shared with the local Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township and Partners for Our Communities in Palatine. Both these organizations are dedicated to improving the lives of children and young adults, nurturing every child’s potential. We are honored to support them in sharing your donated presents, and thank Monica Thigpen for coordinating this gift-giving effort.
Partners for Our Communities shares their gratitude saying, “Your support has made an immeasurable impact on families who are currently facing financial hardship and crisis, and you helped provide not just gifts but hope and stability during a time of uncertainty. We are incredibly grateful to you for being a part of this mission – your willingness to stand alongside families in need is a testament to the power of compassion and community.”
Further extension of Meg’s Gifts of Love included the distribution of $3,750 in gift cards to 150 under-resourced high school girls at Our Lady of Tepeyac in downtown Chicago. An additional $1,500 was shared with three LOSS families recently suffering from suicide, in hopes of providing gifts to their children. LOSS (Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide) is a support program offered by Catholic Charities of Chicago.
