Meg’s Legacy accomplished so much in our first year due to the incredible generosity and support of our donors and volunteers
- June 2023 marked the introduction of our 501(c)(3) organization, founded by our family and Board of Directors, and run solely by volunteers.
- We raised $217,000 at the sold-out golf event last September, just three months after we started Meg’s Legacy.
- The inaugural grant of $25,000 was awarded in September to POC’s Skyward Bound program in honor of Megan’s 30th
- The first grant cycle was announced as we created a Grant Committee to collect, rank and evaluate grant requests that closely align with our mission to assist youth and young adults needing support and counseling.
- “Meg’s Gifts of Love” was a successful Christmas Toy Drive collecting more than 400 gifts and cards for children. We wrapped all the presents and distributed everything to two local groups: Partners for Our Communities in Palatine and the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township.
- We shared $4,500 with 9 families in a program for suicide survivors called LOSS, through Catholic Charities. This money was given to a LOSS parent or grandparent so they could provide for their children at Christmas in the wake of their family tragedy.
- $2,000 was gifted to under-resourced girls at Lady of Tepeyac High School in Chicago.
- We awarded four grants totaling $122,000 to Chicago-area not-for-profits. Each of these organizations has programs that aid young people aged 12-24 for mental health issues like anxiety, depression, loneliness, suicidal ideation or attempts.
- The anniversary celebration, “Meg’s Legacy of Hope Turns One”, was held last month with more than 200 supporters, and raised $11,000.
