Make a Difference and Start the Conversation
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, spread hope, and promote action around one of the most urgent mental health issues of our time.
September is also the month our beautiful daughter Megan would be turning 32 years old, had she not died by suicide in January 2020. We ask “why?” constantly, yet there are no answers. Meg’s Legacy of Hope was created so others will not have to travel this path of confusion, sadness, guilt, anger, and shame that suicide survivors experience.
We can all make a difference by starting a conversation and getting involved. Suicide Prevention Month reminds us that talking about suicide isn’t harmful — silence is. One honest conversation can be a turning point in someone’s life.
With one conversation, asking someone how they’re really doing — and being ready to truly listen — can save lives. No one has to face their problems alone. Help exists if we talk openly about suicide prevention. Healing is possible. Perhaps all it takes is for one person to start a conversation if they notice warning signs and seek help for their friend or child, because resources and support are out there.
Since our inception in 2023, Meg’s Legacy of Hope has granted more than $300,000 for counseling, education and support for youth in our communities. Our 3rd grant cycle is now open, and with your generosity, we are poised to grant $250,000 in Spring 2026 to assist young people in getting needed support to live mentally healthy.
Together we can make a difference.
